The French Open men’s final 2010 brought a climax to the tournament. Given the 2010 French Open men’s final matchup, it looked to be a grand finale. Rafael Nadal was support on the final day, after a one year absence. The man who gave him that one year absence, Robin Soderling, would meet him again for the championship this time. After upsetting Roger Federer, Soderling looked to pull off a second upset and win it all, unlike last year. But unbiased like last year’s championship, the French Open men’s final 2010 was a shapely sweep for the accepted.

Rafael Nadal had won this event four years in a row before last year. Back then, it looked like Nadal’s window of opportunity to overtake Federer was closing. However, he has been nearly perfect lately, and even went into today with a chance to take the No. 1 ranking back.

This year’s French Begin men’s final went perfectly for Nadal, just like these last two weeks as a whole. The 6-4, 6-2, 6-4 win over Soderling was Nadal’s seventh consecutive straight set win at the Originate. Therefore, it is safe to say that Nadal has restored order to Roland Garros, and returned to the top of his game.

For Soderling, the French Open men’s final was a familiar story as well. Last year, he upset Nadal and hoped to do the same to Federer, but lost in straight sets at the end. This time around, he upset Federer and got swept out by Nadal on the final Sunday. Soderling proved that last year wasn’t a fluke, yet settling for one big upset isn’t enough anymore.

Thanks to Soderling, there was no Federer-Nadal rematch at the French Open men’s final 2010. Therefore, since Nadal didn’t have to go through Federer, there is still some unfinished business. But now that he has the No. 1 ranking again, everyone will be hoping for a Nadal-Federer Wimbledon showdown to make up for it.

With this win, the tournament comes to an end after a week of predictability, and a few days of big upsets. Nadal hardly shocked anyone in winning it all, unlike women’s champion Francesca Schiavone. Whereas Schiavone was the first Italian women to win a Grand Slam in the Open era, Nadal’s triumph at the French Open men’s final 2010 is more old hat.

Although it came a year later than expected, Nadal tied for second all-time in French Open titles with five, and can tie Bjorn Borg’s record in 2011. There was never any doubt in this win, although after the last two years, fans expect the Wimbledon men’s final 2010 to be far more unpredictable.
